PIP RENEWAL PHONE ASSESSMENT was created by HangTough69
Hi I am interested in any advice on how to get through a PIP phone call to reassess my entitlement. Also to ask if it is worth sending additional evidence to them by email?
The Review Forms were filled in and sent to them by a lady from The Money Advice Unit, but contain information that I did not give to her - I assume she took it from my PIP application and subsequent Appeal.
The big problem I have is with supporting evidence, especially as I no longer have a Mental health Support team - Completely ridiculous and I am sending a Complaint to the Parliamentary Health Commissioner - but it can take 7 months to reach a Verdict!
Also I have Osteoarthritis and due to the useless MSK Service I see a Private Physio who has done a report for my housing application but it was done after the forms were sent - So I want to ask if anyone thinks they will accept it now? As well as any advice on how to get through the phone call?
Many thanks for your help Jon

Hi HangTough69
In order to prepare for your telephone assessment, have a look at the Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews, pages 109 - 118. This will tell you all about the PIP assessment process. There are examples of the types of questions you will be asked, but we can't be certain as they vary from one claimant to another.
Don't be pushed into answering a question if you don't know the answer - particularly questions about how quickly you walk - most people get this wrong. They often throw in a curveball question - ie a question that seems to have no relevance to PIP.
However nice the assessor appears (and there are nice ones) - stay alert. Some claimants believe they have had a sympathetic assessor who appears to understand their difficulties, only to find that the assessment report bears no resemblance to what they discussed.
We advise you to ask for the assessment to be recorded, and if you can, make your own recording (in case theirs does not work).
Many claimants have been discharged from mental health services. There is a national shortage, so if this issue comes up, you simply say that you have made your complaint because the help you need is not available. It may not come up but you can only tell them the truth if it does.
`If you have additional information, you can send it to the DWP, and it will be scanned onto the system. (You can't email it to them).
