LCWRA - New Claim, advise needed was created by feelingdownandout
hello I have recently made a claim for universal credit, my GP has given me a fit note for the next three months and my UC work coach has said that I should consider making a claim for PIP (which I do, enhanced living and standard mobility). They have noted my journal as not required to seek work at the moment. I have been told that I will receive a questionnaire similar to the one that I had for PIP, and to fill in and send back. As anyone on here will know, the PIP process can be extremely distressing, and I am not sure that I can cope with having to go through all of those questions again. I would be grateful if someone can explain how this process works? I understand that there is no overlap between PIP and LCWRA, but the thought of another assessment is already freaking me out and I have not even had the form yet.

Hi feelingdownandout

A few years ago Gordon one of the mods produced a spreadsheet as to which descriptors for UC50 and PIP overlapped, I have had a Quick Look but I cannot find it.

The procedure for ESA is as follows.

- The DWP review the claim to decide whether they can make a Decision on the evidence already available, this is only relevant to the most severely disabled.
- If the DWP cannot make a Decision the claimant's file is pass to Maximus.
- Maximus decide whether they can make a recommendation on the papers available, they usually contact the GP at this time.
- If Maximus cannot make a recommendation they will then consider whether the claimant is at risk and whether to issue an ESA50 or not. They may contact the GP at this time.
- Claimant completes ESA50 if sent.
- Maximus review ESA50 and evidence to see if a Paper Based Review can be done.
- If not claimant is invited to a face to face/telephone assessment.
- Report based on assessment and information available produced for DWP.

Don't forget to read our guide above: www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1

Hi feelingdownandout

You were close, ESA stands for Employment and Support Allowance.
