The latest news on the PIP review saga. was created by Onyx123
We are now coming to the end of the process. They said from the start of the claim we had more savings than we stated that is false. They have changed the amount of savings we have thousands more than we have now. Told them that it is not correct.
They called me and discussed how many accounts does my wife have and they said 5. She only has 4. Somebody at the DWP had duplicated an account add an extra premium bonds account that has thousands of premium bonds in it. The other account they said is a bond account. Premium bonds and bonds. On the top of the statement it says premium bonds and further down it says you added bonds. My wife reinvests small wins like £25.
Now they removing this non existant account and we are waiting for the result of removing the money from the non existant account.
Where you declare savings and investments, that has changed from adding your savings amount to wanting to know how much is in each account including your bank account. The adding the amount the bank accout will cause errors when calulating correct amouny of savings. Bank accounts are fluid, my wife only has her wages go into the account that pays bills, my account only has benefits go into it. Both are discounted if they are spent each month. If we state the amount they could say it is savings. I never got past that part and contacted the DWP. Who wants me to wait and not put how much savings we have now in until they correct their errors.
It seems to me they haven't got a clue what they are doing. On my bank account they seems to have given up working it out because it would take an accountant to work it out. 8 pages of transactions a month with money flowing in and out many times a day. My bank account is crazy. I back horses and all is legal. No earnings comes in, only money from winnings that is paid out again.

Hi Onyx123
I'm glad to hear that this saga is coming to an end. What a dreadfully stressful time you have had over it. I'm pretty sure the DWP will never acknowledge they have been at fault, apologise, or compensate you for what they put you through. (Though you could put in an official complaint when it's over and suggest compensation? It wouldn't amount to much)

Thanks Bis. The title is wrong it should say UC review. It has been 7 months of stress and not what will happen.
When UC started the review and I answered the first time why extra money was in my account. They come back with trick questions we couldn't answer and said we need to review your claim back to date the claim started. Hoping to find something that was not there.
I told UC I received £1000 compensation for a disrepair claim against my housing association. Now they have decided it has to go to a decision maker to see if it should be disregarded. No idea how long that will take.
Our savings amount now set by UC is thousands too high and now the UC payment will be reduced by £100 until they correct the error. How long it will take is anybody's guess. I am happy it is nearly over. I still don't know if we will be hit with any overpayments.
They put a letter in the journal telling us we have not kept up with our commitments and we could receive a £50 and leave the findings where they are if we didn't explain why we didn't explain the extra savings not declared from the start of the claim. Extra savings that never existed. All duplicated by UC. We still don't know if we will be hit with a £50 penalty.
The person I spoke to on the phone was reasonable and quite helpful. But everything is vague on what they tell you. I did tell them that UC is over complicated and it is impossible to understand everything. You would need full traing in UC or a degree in UC to fully understand it.

The most frustrating part was to constantly reupload statements that had already uploaded to them. Sometimes the same statements uploaded 3 or 4 times more. No wonder they got confused and thought there was an extra account.
At first they would give us a PDF upload link and a Jpeg upload link. Then they would give us only Jpeg upload links. When I contacted them to say PDFs won't upload on the link and asked for a PDF upload link they would tell me they will work. And they would send one upload link for months of statements. Back to the journal to get more upload links so we didn't miss the deadline. In the end I had to print months of statements and photo them and upload them to the PC to upload the statements in Jpeg. It was a nightmare and stressful. I saw it as all deliberate to make it as hard as possible to upload statements. Many of the statements could have been uploaded from the bank account in PDF with a click of the mouse.

Hi Onyx123
We would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Specialist; you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies in your area advicelocal.uk or you may want to try and contact a law centre in your area www.lawcentres.org.uk
