Previous Tenants Equipment Removal was created by Jaged
Hi, does anyone have experience on getting a previous tenants showering screen and gate removed from their new property?
This was for an old lady who needed carers to shower her sat down.
For me being an over 6ft large male, this serves as a trip hazard and leaves me with not enough space to shower properly. I have emailed the housing association but they say it's nothing to do with them and that I should contact an occupational therapist to come out and check it.
I've sent photos in to the housing association showing the problems this apparatus is causing me. Shouldn't things like this be removed before a new tenant moves in?
It's all fittied to the hight and size of a little old lady.
Regards

You could try contacting the Adult Social Services department of your local council. It's possible that the adaptations were installed by Adult Social Services following an Occupational Therapist's report. Your Housing Association have most likely regarded these adaptations as part of the fixtures and fittings of the property when the previous tenancy ended. It's similar in a way to when a ramp is installed outside of a property for someone who needs wheelchair access. When the tenant moves out, the ramp is usually left in place. The same has happened here with regards to the shower fittings.
That said, your HA should have been more helpful, even if it was to direct you to the correct place to contact. Telling someone to contact an occupational therapist without explaining why or where to contact one is not very helpful.
