AR2 PIP Form Question was created by Tillylil
Received PIP AR2 to be returned by 11/10.
Query re: question 16
Have there been any changes in your health condition since your last claim?
My PIP was awarded for ME/CFS.
My daily living and mobility needs are still the same.
However, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2022 and following a lumpectomy and radiation treatment am on preventative medication until 2027 which will show on my prescription.
Do I tick BOTH No and Yes and explain briefly that No my ME/CFS is the same but Yes and add the Breast Cancer Diagnosis. The cancer diagnosis doesn’t change my daily needs and mobility
Do I just tick Yes and then explain the cancer diagnosis is in addition to my conditions mentioned on my previous claim.
I have been asked if my needs have changed for:
Preparing and Cooking Food
Eating and Drinking
Managing Treatments & Medications
Washing and Bathing
Managing your toilet needs
Dressing and Undressing
Getting Around
How much detail is required for each of these descriptors to compare to the last claim?
I don’t have any new evidence that was included since my last claim as my needs and health problems have been static since then.
I just have to manage my conditions as well as I can.
Thank you

Hi Tillylil
A conundrum. I think your approach is the correct one. Make sure that you really push that your ME/CFS has not changed. We all know that the DWP don't always read things correctly, and you don't want some assessor going, " Oh, she's had breast cancer and recovered, and therefore her needs have changed.". Please don't think I am trying to scare you here, because I'm not, but I need to mention it, because we often hear of things not being read properly.
How much do you write? We haven't had that many members reporting on their experience of the AR2 form. However, we do have two camps. Some have written nothing and basically said that their condition has not changed, but it reminded them of their conditions, and others have not said anything. A couple of people in both camps have regretted their choice - one thought they should have written more, and one thought they should have written anything. I would see what Steve says in the guide and follow that - to the point of what feels right for you. There is no perfect answer here. However, I do always think the more people write - the more opportunity the DWP has to catch people out. If you have no new evidence, then just direct them back to what they already have and don't try and explain why you haven't any new evidence. Lots of people have nothing new, especially with conditions such as ME/CFS.
