If they tried that in my street they'd either be challenged by the local drug dealer worried they were invading his turf, be set upon by some burly youth in a hoodie or have their car wheels stolen whilst they're sat in it and attacked for their trouble if they dared to complain.
Seriously though, just get your wife to go out and challenge them and also inform the local police. If the police tell you theyve "checked it out and theyre on official business" then it's either the DWP or you have a terrorist living nearby who has been observed buying exsessive amounts of sugar, diesel and fertiliser in your locale.

Hi,
I totally disagree that you should go out and challenge anyone without knowing who they are, they could be anybody !
The DWP would only carry out covert surveillance of you, if they felt you were claiming benefits to which they think you're not entitled to.
You don't state which benefits you're on, but my advice would be to contact the office(s) of of any DWP office that pays you benefits and ask them.
They may be wary of answering such queries. If so, I'd be inclined to report the matter to the Police.
Best wishes.
Pat

If she is bed ridden how can she take a grandchild to school and walk a dog?
