I think IMO of course that most cuts in DLA will affect care, now they say and admit they want to CUT DLA by 20% so with new rules and moving the goal posts people who get the lower rate for not being able to manage a meal will all be found able to manage a micro wave meal as per draft PIP regulations

www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/welfare-reform/leg...ce-payment-briefing/

as for a meal it says in the draft........

“cook” means heat food at or above waist height; :)

see page 9 of 15 draft regulations PIP

other savings will be made by cutting the amounts paid for all rates of PIP IMO of course :silly:

Pardon me for being so cynical, but I wouldn't believe a thing this government are saying until the final draft regulations are passed into law.

This government and indeed the former New Labour government, have consistently tampered with the ESA regulations to the detriment of claimants. The continuous moving of the goalposts with ESA, means that the original draft regulations bear little resemblance as to what is happening with ESA now. Obviously, the intention is to move as many claimants as possible by whatever means off the allowance, as a cost-cutting exercise.

I'm afraid I also consider this to be the intention of the Personal Independence Payment, as the government have already openly declared by way of propaganda and without reference to any medical evidence or claimants' files, that it is their intention to remove 20% of claimants from disability benefits with the introduction of PIP. If ESA is anything to go by thus far, I fear that the 20% figure quoted will be significantly higher.

And when it is significantly higher it will be a triumph for this government's policy of "Tough Love" and proof that all those people on DLA were scroungers, just as the Sun always said they were.

I said some while ago (just before the election in fact) that if the government wanted some cheap popularity with the tabloids, then they would cancel the Motability scheme entirely - you know that scheme where you ring up the DWP, tell them you have a bad back and they immediately give you a really nice new car for free providing you promise to vote Labour.

I've noticed that a significant amount of disability hate crime consists of trashing Motability cars.

Okay, I'm tired and it's making me pessimistic. I'll hope that somebody decides that the votes of the disabled are worth a bit, or that the DWP choke on their own red tape, and everything has to be put off for 5 years - during which time anything could happen.
