OK this is a very tricky situation.
You can request that the medical is moved, however, ATOS are not obliged to do so. Having support in writing from your GP may help but will not guarantee success.
My advice is, unless you have received written confirmation that the appointment has been moved, whatever might be said to you over the phone, you should assume that the original appointment is still scheduled and that you must attend.
Being viewed as failing the medical can, and usually does, result in you being found Fit for Work. Whilst this can be appealed and a new claim lodged, because a claimant has been found Fit for Work because of a technical failure rather than at the medical, no benefit is payable until a new medical is held and attended.
I know this sounds quite alarmist, but we have had another member post that they have lost their benefit, despite being told that verbally that their had been an adjustment in the date of their medical.
