If I had a blue plastic folder I lost it a long time ago... hubbie has his still... hummph.. but I DO have my Statement of preserved pension and my discharge papers. I kept them safe through all the moves. Going to have to take all this in and talk to hubbie, he'll have to do all the contacting rafa and talking most off to them for me... thank you... I have even stopped crying for now anyway linda
I am glad you have that piece of paper if you want to work out what its worth today go to the ONS web site for each september since you came out times it by septembers rpi they are listed in a pdf file here it is
www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_economy/Rp04.pdf
so if your pension was £3000 per year when you came out in say 1985
1985 rpi sep was 5.9% so divide by 100 times 105.9% the new total would be
£3177
1986 rpi was 3% so that becomes 3177 dividid by 100 time 103 which is
£3272
and on and on till last september when the way of calculating was changed to CPI
www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_economy/CPI.pdf
what ever the end sum is your pension is that amount and lump sum 3 times
it takes about an hour to do the sum yourself and it faster than them sending it out, and if you get an update from them even if they wont put it into payment you know whats coming your way many people with frozen pension do the sum each year to help with long term planning
what you have to prove, and they have to be happy with is your so ill that you will never go back to full time work ... my war pension was quicker to get in place than the service pension I saw my GP he wrote a letter a consultant at local hospital then they wrote back to consultant and asked a few more questions
they never wrote to tell me it had been awarded first i knew was a tatty brown envelop with lump sum check about three weeks later they asked for bank details and told me

"The Spending Review on 20 October 2010 announced that, from April 2012, for those ESA claimants assessed as eligible for the WRAG, contributory ESA would only be payable for up to one year."
When I read this I thought it meant that the one year thing hadn't started yet and we were okay for just a bit longer!
It still stinks, of course...

Under the regulations followed by Job Centre Plus an individual has to be in receipt of a sickness/disability benefit to gain help from an DEA for training courses , advice ,possible employment leads and financial assistance toward transport for attending courses interviews etc.
Perplexing questions arise for the many thousands of ESA CB claimants from April 2012 reduced income plus no assistance from JCP or DEA unless they can obtain or retain DLA.
Even though obviously ill or disabled but not in receipt of the appropriate benefits which organisation explains to a possible employer that ergonomically designed equipment will be required to undertake employment ? and would the employer receive financial assistance for an outside body to cover the cost of such equipment?
In the event the above analyses is correct the removal of these benefits will not only have a financial impact but effectively exclude people from entering the work place.
