my daughter cares for me but she does not encourage me to do anything its the partical help i need. Should she mention this on her ESA form? as when she was going through appeal she had a call from the DWP to say she had taken on a caring role but did she encourage me to do anything and she said no She needs the encouragement and they gave her ESA back. So should she mention it? and say that she does not encourage me?

Hi Sandra,
If it is your daughter's ESA50 that is being filled in, then anything regarding her limitations resulting from her conditions should be entered on the form.
The ESA50 is used as part of the whole assessment process, so it is very important that all aspects of any limitaions with regard to relevant descriptors are mentioned.
Not quite sure if this answers your question, if not can you please clarify a bit more.
cheers

i mean should i mention that my daughter carers for me(but they already know through last appeal)what i mean is she helps as in physical thing like getting me dressed and shoes but i have to encourage her to do this for me and other things for me and encourage her to do things for herself. she does still have the limitaions. so should i mean that she cares for me but still has all the limitations she has mentioned in her form.
hope this explains better.

Hi Sandra,
From what I can gather you have physical limitations, and your daughter has mental health limitations.
She helps you with physical activities, but you have to encourage her due to her mental health issues.
It is her ESA50 that is being filled in, and you wish to know whether it should be mentioned on the form that she cares for you as to your physical needs?.
Am I correct here?

yes your right
O.K. Sandra,
On the premise that your daughter does not suffer any physical limitations, even as a result of her mental health issues, simply answer the physical activities part of the form honestly.
In this case as her care for you only involves physical activities, it is a totally seperate issue.
You should not have to mention her caring for you, unless specifically asked, in which case tell the truth.
As she needs encouragment to instigate physical activties in helping you, and for herself, this factor should be mentioned on the mental health part of the form.
Have you looked at the ESA Guides in the orange "MEMBERS ONLY" area on the left.
They are seperated into mental and physical limitations, and go into some detail.
Don't forget some physical limitations can also result in mental health limitations and vice versa.
hope this helps.
