Form HC5 and migration worries

Form HC5 and migration worries was created by summertrain
I have a form HC5 to fill out for travelling expenses to hospital. At present I am due around £50. This has to be sent to my local Jobcentre plus. However, I am a bit wary of sending things there, as I am worried that it will trigger a migration to ESA from IB that I am currently receiving. Is this concern justified, will my file be accessed for something like this? Would a simple claim for expenses really trigger a migration?

Hi, ST,

As you should understand, this is a question that we can not really answer.

We can only quote what we are told by the DWP, and that does not state that an IB to ESA migration would be triggered in a case such as yours.

We will never know, sorry I can't be of more help.

cheers

Thanks, I appreciate that would be the case. I asked someone who works at the DWP who is a friend for advice, and he thought it wouldn't trigger a migration, but as we all know we just can't trust or predict what they will do as they seem to be a law unto themselves.

However, it would be reassuring to know that it would be unlikely!

Hi,
I know it's not quite the same but I also get IB and got married earlier in the year (February).I had to write & inform them obviously and was worried it could trigger my move from IB to ESA even though my PCA review date is July 2012. To date I have not had any correspondance from them.

My Council Tax benefit recently came up for review and I received the migration to ESA letter shortly afterwards. I know they are separate departments but I can't help but think that the two events were connected.
