Poor or non-existent training, bad advice and misdirection seem to go hand in hand at the DWP these days, although I do not necessarily blame the clerical staff as it is essentially down to poor management from top to bottom.
Agreed CD
As in all situations, the student's knowledge is only as good as the tutor giving the knowledge, or, as may be the case, not giving the knowledge at all.

I received the above information yesterday I rang JCP for copy of forms ESA65 and ESA 85. She did not have a clue what they were.
She typed a search in their system and found them. She said "I don't think they will be any good to you" I told her to send them to me.
She then told me "you have to be terminally ill or severely disabled to get into the support group" This is not the first time I have been told this by someone from the JCP. I find most of the JCP people less than helpful mainly due to their lack of training.
Thanks col

I'm sorry to have upset you like that, there are probably thousands like you who are diligent concientious workers. It is unfortunate that you get tarred with the same brush, but the reallity is that so much conflicting and simply incorrect advice is given that even if the majority were correct, due to the gross errors, a person cannot put trust in what is said. That has been my personal experience over the years.
But I know what it's like from the other side of the counter. When I worked for a Local Council, the most common cause of absenteeism amongst counter staff was stress caused through having to deal with nasty, ignorant, violent "customers".
The last time I tried to work I cracked up and trashed my office, I was the one who the clients phoned when work was not delivered on time or was substandard, not the joiners in the workshop who were making a pig's ear of things.
No, it's not nice to be tarred with the same brush, I feel for you. If you are able to give good advice on this forum then rest assured I for one am eternally gratefull
Kindest Regards
Peter

I started this thread, and ithink it is only right i should say that until the two conversations i had yesterday the staff i have spoken to have always been polite and pleasant.
I did have some information given to me at the start of my migration that was totally wrong and that caused me a lot of distress at the time, but after it was explained why i was given the wrong info, i could see it was not the fault of the JCP operator, and accepted their apology.
However what i was told yesterday and the manner in how it was said is not acceptable.
My wife said that if she had been spoken to in that manner she would have accused them of bullying.
This is the reason i have contacted my MP.
People who are ill deserve the same level of courtesy as anyone else.
