Hi peeps.
I became a member after being told I couldnt get DLA by the JC. To anyone who is thinking of becoming a member its the best money ever spent.

I applied for the DLA myself and got it. My problem was severe asthma, and ezemea. I need further help please.
I got the DLA but its at a lower rate for care and mobility. I have someone who cares for me and got scared with the apeal in case i lost the benefit i got. is there someone who has gone the through the apeal first stage to give me advise i would appriciate this so much. many thanks.

Hi saghir

If I understand your post correctly you have been awarded DLA low rate for care & mobility and are considering appealing the decision, as you feel you may be entiltled to a higher rate.

May I suggest you read through the B&W guides regarding both claiming and appealing DLA, in the orange Members Only section.

There is a danger in appealing a decision which you will find here -

Is there any risk to challenging a decision?

You will need to provide evidence that you need help from someone else in coping, (which I note you say you have) as the medical condition alone is not usually sufficient to qualify.

The fact that you were told by a JC that you couldn't get DLA, is innapropriate advice, unless possibly it was a specialist disabilty adviser, but in any case its not the JC who decide, but the DLA unit based in Blackpool.

I hope this is of assistance.

Michael
