Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
Panic of personal advicer interview was created by carole
I asked to see a personal advisor even though i am in the support group (Bipolar) because i want to do a college course only a couple of hours a week to start to regain some confidence I wanted to make sure everything was overboard and i wasnt doing anything wrong. I had a panic attack in the job centre and found the whole thing distressing, bursting into tears, even though the advisor was really very nice and kind, she said that I was ill and didnt need to attend and could do the course if I wanted. However kind she was and i also took realms of medical eviedence (not sure why) I am now in a panic that by going into the jobcentre this will affect my DLA. I cant think straight at all. Any advice

Job Centre Plus advisor do not have authority to instigate assessments, so I really do not think you have anything to worry about regarding this visit, nor is there anything in your post to suggest that the DWP would have reason to look at your DLA.
I am sure everything will be OK.

As regards your DLA you don't need to worry at all. It's paid to people to help with the costs of disability, and a lot of the people who get it are in full time employment and some go to college full time.
So going to the Job Centre or to college would have no effect on your DLA.
It's ESA (or IB), if you get that, where you have to be a little bit more careful, but quite often you can get your doctor to say that doing a little college work would be "therapeutic" - and it sounds as though it would be - and that will be OK as well.

Hi c,
You are correct, in that DLA is a non means tested "in work" allowance.
However, any actions carried out in the acts of voluntary work, work, or indeed attendance of any college courses, that were contradictory to the entitlement of the DLA award/s, could endanger any such award/s.
