Loss of Free School Meals! was created by chared
Hi, firstly I would like to thank this site for helping me to move to the support group from WRAG without a medical. However, it comes at a cost! I am now permanently contribution based and because my spouse works part time and receives working tax credit we are no longer eligible for free school meals. My daughter has a £300 school trip which we are now supposed to pay. Can someone please confirm this is correct. I get another £5 a week but are now expected to pay over £1000 a year on school meals and trips for my two children.

Our expertise, such as it is, is IB, ESA and DLA/PIP rather than things such as school meals, working tax credit etc. However, it may be that another mod or member is able to answer your query.

Hi C,
Being placed into the Support Group or WRAG of ESA is not pertinent to whether you are entitled to Contribution Based ESA, or Income Related ESA.
Being entitled to CB ESA or IR ESA in the WRAG or SG is dependant on what benefit you were in receipt of, prior to your migration to ESA, and your NI Contribution history.
See :
What will I be transferred to?
What will I be paid?
As MHB says, we cannot adivise on your entitlement to Free School Meals etc.
You should seek professional face to face advice, see :

Hi C,
Are you aware that the rules for entitlement to Working Tax Credits changed in April this year.

Unfortunately, we can not offer any further definitive advice on the above.
