Bringing a friend was created by roadrunner
I would like to know if I bring a friend to an ESA medical, would that person have to sign in, give their name, relationship to me etc, or simply just turn up like at a doctor's surgery?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I'm not aware of any specific requirement associated with the ESA assessment for a companion to identify themselves, although I would expect the ATOS assessor to ask questions as to who your companion is.I would like to know if I bring a friend to an ESA medical, would that person have to sign in, give their name, relationship to me etc, or simply just turn up like at a doctor's surgery?

Hi rr,
For security and fire reg reasons, they would be required to provide ID, and sign in.
You are entitled to a companion, and they are even allowed to take notes.

There is also information on the ATOS website, here :

Hi again,
After quickly scanning the ATOS website, I cannot see information that says a companion will have to provide ID,(might of missed it) however I am sure that they would have to sign in for obvious reasons.
You may wish to check with ATOS beforehand, as this would be a reasonable query, as your companion would need to know whether they had to take ID with them.
Maybe. some of our other members would like to give feedback, if they have personal experience of this scenario, which I do not have.

If you look at this page, there is an e-mail link for queries which are not covered in the FAQ's,
www.atoshealthcare.com/claimants/faq
There is also this FAQ, but this seems to be pertaining to the claimant : What should I bring to my assessment?

My friend came with me to my assessment earlier this year. I don't remember her signing in and I know that she didn't have to provide proof of identity.
