Disability Rights UK,,,, (where possible, the DWP will use existing data held for IB/IS to determine entitlement to ESA;),,, the only conclusion I can take from this is that I must of completed the form wrongly and it just upsets me that I didn't take more care and information from this site So once again I'm very grateful for all you're help and I'm sure that I will be contacting Benefits and Work for more help in the near future.
Thank you Gordon
Hi J,
Don't feel too bad about this error, it has been most confusing to many, many benefit claimants.
There is a guide to be transferred over from IB, IS or SDA to ESA, top link on the this page :
ESA Claims Guides
You may also find our : IB, IS, SDA, Migration to ESA FAQ’s informative.
Good luck, and please keep us updated.

None of the benefit assessments are classed as medical examinations although they are often referred to as medicals, there may be a minor examination including a check on your joint movement and possibly a blood pressure test, but it is unlikely to be any more than this. I am not aware of anybody being asked to remove their clothing beyond their shoes and socks, even when they might expect to have, for example to show operation scars, etc.

Hi J,
It mostly comprises of a question and answer session where the HCP asks specific predefined questions, and enters your answers into a computer.
The LiMA computer programme will then compile an ESA85 Medical Report, where recommendations will be made with regards to your qualification for ESA, and which group, WRAG or SG. that you should be placed into.
This report is then sent to The DWP ESA Decision Maker, who makes the final decision, and informs you in writing.
The face to face may involve some basic physical examination, such as bending, stretching, etc.
If you have a read through the WCA Handbook, it will enlighten you further.
You should be aware, that your mode of transport, etc in getting to and from the assessment will be taken into account, and assumptions may be made from this.
You may also be observed from when you approach the building, whilst inside, and when leaving. Again assumptions may be made by the assessing HCP.
The best way to approach it, is that the assessment begins from when you leave home until your return.
