Hello Everyone, I wondered if any of you can answer a question for me. I sent off the form to request an appeal GL24 on the form I said I would send a letter of reasons when I obtained the 'statement of reasons.' I have now received this but it is very vague and doesn't help at all. Just says she 'should be able to walk more than 200m and she should be able to take care of her personal needs.' I don't know what I should do now. should I request the paper work (and atos assessment letter *sigh*) or should I just set out why she cannot walk and take care of her personal needs, and just send that back? Thanks.

The first thing is to check that your appeal has been accepted, the DWP should have confirmed this in writing to you.
On the assumption that it has, you are currently within the Reconsideration phase, where the DWP will look at the Decision to see whether they can revise it. You probably have about four weeks, although it could be much longer to submit information to the DWP, you need to concentrate on why you feel you meet the descriptors.
It is unfortunate that you have not already requested the other documents involved in the Decision, you should do so as quickly as possible.

Thank you. I did ask for a reconsideration once and they turned that down too. I haven't had a reply yet since I sent in the GL24. I did ask for copies of all the paperwork when I asked for statement of reasons. but haven't received then as yet. Perhaps I should have put that in writing.

Hello,
I have phoned the dwp and asked them again for all papers they used to reach their decision. This time I have send a request in writing too. I have today received the letter of acknowledgement of my GL24 form. They say they are looking at it again and if we haven't heard in 11 weeks we should contact them.
Should I now send of my reasons for appeal, this will only be a reply to their statement of reasons or should I wait until ALL the paperwork is in and then reply to the medical report from Atos (which I am pretty sure is what has caused the problem.)

The difficulty is that there is no specific timescale associated with the Reconsideration phase, it could be 11 weeks, it could be 4-5 weeks or it could be 4-5 months.
I would wait a couple of weeks for the medical report to arrive and try and get everything submitted within 4 weeks from now.
You can continue to submit evidence and submission for the appeal element up to about two weeks before the hearing.
