DLA change of address query

I have an indefinate award of DLA and have just moved house, currently drafting a letter to inform DLA unit of the change. I understand from reading other posts that a change of address is not considered a change of circumstances, and therefore should not trigger any reassessment.
However, in our new house we have a toilet upstairs as well as downstairs, whereas previously we only had one upstairs. I am aware that my award of middle rate care is partially based on the fact that I am limited as to how often I can go up and down the stairs each day (I have ME), and I know they ask about where the toilet(s) are in the house on the DLA form. Having a downstairs toilet does make things easier for me but I still have problems moving around the house, especially at this time of year as my legs keeping giving way! I also still have to go upstairs to rest in bed a couple of times a day.
Basically what I would like to know is
1. Do I need to tell them I now have a downstairs toilet?
2. If so, could this be grounds for a reassessment?
Thanks.

I am afraid that the downstairs toilet is something that I would expect you to have to report to the DWP if you have not previously had one, however, this does not necessarily mean that it will be considered a Change of Circumstances, if it is clear that their is no reduction in the attention you need from another person.
Unfortunately, there is really no way to know how the DWP will treat this as the change in the law only cam into affect on Monday.

Hello,

I have secondary progressive MS so moved in January this year to a new purpose built disabled bungalow with a wet room and full disabled access from my lounge and main bedroom to my patio. In my last accommodation I was in a ground floor flat which was wheelchair friendly, but had a bath with a shower and bath seat.
As required, I informed the DLA Unit in Blackpool of my move and that I was now in a purpose built disabled bungalow. My DLA award wasn't changed. A change of address is not classified as a change of circumstances, but claimants must inform the DLA of their new address.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, if you still have sufficient mobility and/or care needs to qualify you for DLA.

My condition has not changed at all, so I know I am ok on that front.
