With the superb assistance of the Guides obtained high rate care and continuance of high rate mobility. Was on long term Incap Ben until July 2012 then dreaded brown envelope with ESA 50 form received. UGH many times.

Once again with the help of the guides managed to complete the form paying precise attention to the both ESA guides and submitting chronilogical medical evidence in support and statement of wife with a statement of truth attached confirming my medical problems.

After worrying and waiting approx 6 weeks received 2nd brown envelope advising been placed in the "support group" and to receive ESA Contribution Based allowance of £105.50. No medical necessary. What a relief.

Does anyone know if receiving or awarded contribution based ESA whether the Pension Premium is allowed or whether it is confined to Income based ESA. Age Concern could not assist.

Also if placed straight into the Support Group is one not notified of the function points allowed or awarded.

My only concern is that the latter says the benefit will only apply from 19/09/12 - 27/11/12. The welfare reform act and ESA says "if placed in the support group the award is for an indefinate period. If this is correct why is the amount limited until November 2012.

Thank you once again Benefits and Work. Fantastic job done preparing the user guides for us mortals.

Well done on your DLA and ESA awards, thank you for letting us know.

I'm afraid that I do not know the answer to your first question. I hope that one of the more knowledgeable mod's will be along to help.

Claimants are not automatically given details of what points were scored and where, you will need to request a copy of your ESA85a for this.

ESA medical – what forms to ask for

ESA is an indefinate award but will be subject to periodic reassessments for the duration of the claim. This can vary from 3 months to 3 years. The 'prognosis' on your ESA85a will give you some idea as to when to expect reassessment. The November date that you mention is nothing to do with the duration of your award or when to expect reassessment. It is related to DWP systems - possibly payment of the Christmas bonus. A quick search of this site will turn up many threads dealing with this.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi P,

Well done !! :)

MHB has answered most of your queries.

If you have been transferred over to ESA from IB, you will not receive any less than you were receiving before, under "Transitional Protection " see :

What will I be paid?
