PIP Appeal was created by VBW
Hi all
Huge thank you needed.
Applied for PIP in July 2015, had several atos appointments cancelled finally had my face to face in Oct 2015. Lasted just short of an hour and the computer was not working at the time. My needs are mental health and vary widely. Upshot after 4 weeks waiting awarded 2 points. Did the reconsideration 1 week later same result.
THEN
I found this wonderful site and decided to appeal. Using the members guide I sent in a very long appeal.
Appeal date set for Feb 2016. Due to my ill health and the appeal being in Ashford I didn't attend and thought well that's that I won't get it cos I didn't go.
To my surprise they postponed it asking for 2 years of medical report from my doctor and stating the next appeal should be in Chatham so that I would be more likely to attend.
APPEAL at Chatham yesterday.
The panel were very good and could see my anxiety, they grilled me they asked me about everything which was difficult but I had my husband for support and tried to answer as best I could. They seemed genuine and we're listening to me and the doctor actually knew about my condition of personality disorder. After an hour we were told to wait for 15 minutes whilst they made their decision stating they if I could not cope they could tell just my husband or they could send the decision in the post.
I waited, went outside to breath and after 15 mins went back in. I sat down and they said it's good news.
AWARDED 13 points I got the enhanced rate for 3 years from the original date. So nearly a year of back pay due and another 2 years till July 2018.
I would not have been able to appeal if it was not for the guides, they made my appeal comprehensive, I highlighted the mistakes at atos based mainly round the fact my condition varies and this was not taken into account and I was not asked if the assessment day was a good or bad day. Having so much information on paper meant the appeal knew what questions to ask that were relevant to me.
Thank you so much. Best money ever spent.
