A surprisingly good result! was created by Bud
Sorry for beginning new topic but I just cannot find the other one. Partner has successfully transferred from DLA to PIP. I rang up last week for the report as I could take no more of it, & although I never expected them to tell me I dared ask if they'd reached a decision on the assessment, they had & they did. He went from low rate DLA care & mobility, to enhanced care & low mobility. I expected to have real a battle with them, tribunals .... judging by the horror stories I've read on here. Also never expected him to get mobility since they changed the rules, but we feel that she prompted us to get those other 4 points, yes really! In the report there's quite a few contradictions & a some things that never happened, but we're so relieved with the outcome after almost 14 weeks. Thanks so much to you all on here for supporting us along the way, it really does means so much. All the very best to everyone, do not give up, ever!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thanks Gordon.
I did look at my other posts but still couldn't find, must still be in shock.
Just to add that he went from previously indefinite to getting 3 years, well 2 really. Still very pleased with result.

I've made your post confidential, but my answer of necessity must be viewable.
The rules are indeed complicated so I can't give a definitive answer.
Where CA is payable and both members of a couple meet the SDP rules allow one person to claim CA, if the CA is not payable, just the CP then I believe that both persons can claim CA.

Hi Gordon, I did contact Carers UK & they advised me not to put in for CA as I would get it, & not the underlying entitlement as I thought. This would mean that we would lose half of the couples SDP, & would therefore make us financially worse off. I just thought I'd mention this in case anyone needed any help with carers that wasn't covered here on B&W. They do a call back service to suit you, explain everything to you in simple terms, & they'll email you that info too.
