Making the best of a bad lot!
Support group until 2030! was created by mmpkelly1
Thanks to B&W guides my recent ESA review was successful without a medical. As there was no end date on the award notice I rang their office. I was so relieved to hear I’m in the support group until 30/4/2030, by which point I’ll be 62! I’m hoping & praying this is the last time I have to go through the uncertainty of this process. B&W are truly lifesavers!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Congratulations on the award but I don't think the 2030 date is correct unless this is when you reach State Retirement Age and the DWP have said that your conditions mean that they do not have to be reassessed. The normal maximum period between reassessments in the SG is three years.

I’ve had two previous 3 year sg awards. I put them over it twice & they said it was long term support group until 30/4/2030. I am quite severely disabled & was awarded full PIP last year until 2027. I hope they are right, I’ll have to check again.

If the DWP were excusing you from future assessment then it would be stated on the Decision Letter.

Hi Gordon, I have confirmed with a manager that my award is support group until 30/4/2030. They are forwarding a letter so it’s good to know that awards are being made for longer than 3 years. Thanks again to B&W, the guides were invaluable!

Hope it's OK to post on this - I just saw it mentioned in the newsletter - very good news for you Nini, and the first evidence that I've personally seen that the DWP seem to be implementing their 'new' (as of last September) rule on granting exemption from repeat assessments, where the criteria allow it (but perhaps I'm just not around enough to know they've been using it) - howvever, I'm pleased to see that the rule seems to be being used, and only hope that the DWP are making good and proper use of it.
