ESA and chronic intractable pain was created by livinhell
Hi all,
New to the forums but your guide books are excellent.
A question:
For the last 10 years I have suffered from chronic intractable pain which means that I suffer constant considerable pain which increases to severe pain on mobilising (or doing anything physical) Medications used to help manage the pain are controlled drugs.
Do I put yes I can or no I can't do without severe pain on the ESA tickboxes?
Consultants have confirmed that there is no cure for my pain.

I'll hope you will understand that we can't tell you how to fill in your ESA50, but with regard to your pain.
The question to ask yourself is how well does the medication you take, control the pain? does it stop the pain completely or does it only reduce it? If it reduces the pain, how would you describe it then? How long do the effects last and is there a period before you can take your next dose?
If you look at the guides, you'll see there are very few absolutes, we talk about we feel the majority of the time and how we feel when we are worse.
I hope this helps you to decide what to tick on the form, perhaps some of the other forum members can add their own comments as well.
