PIP Change of Circumstances Terminal Illness

Hi everyone, I posted a similar post to this but even after a mod was online it wasn't approved so am posting again (apologies if it's duplicated).

Early March my mum became very ill and ended up in hospital for a month. Upon discharge they confirmed that she has several cancers and is terminally ill. Due to her not wanting any further testing or treatment she's been discharged by the consultant she was under and is back under the care of her GP.

She has a PIP claim (standard care, no mobility) that was mainly based on her being partially sighted and having osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Three weeks ago I rang her GP to ask them for a DS1500 to be sent either to me or the DWP so they know the situation. I was told it would be ready the day after. Each day I rang, I was told to ring back until mum needed the GP for a home visit and he was asked in person.

The GP said he knew of the forum but had "no idea where to get" one from as they just "turn up" in his in tray. I find this strange, so I asked the community therapy team, the district nurse and our local MacMillan team who have all said the GP should sort this. I'm going round in circles and getting pretty irritated with this.

DWP won't speak to me and mum is now at the point where she's confused and sometimes incoherent so calling won't work and when we've tried the queue has been so long she's either too tired or fallen asleep.

My plan now is to give the DWP all info I can in writing and tell them to ask the GP for the DS1500 and tell him how to get one.

OR

I could reiterate to the GP how to get one as I know he can email the PIP/DWP dept to get an electronic one and send it back via the same email.

I'm feeling at a loss and fed up of this taking up so much of my time. I know this forum is more about applying and assessments etc and if I'm out of line asking this then does anyone know who I can call on for help?

Hi Ravenmiss

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother and frankly, the doctor is being unhelpful. Does your doctor have a receptionist or admin person? The admin person probably has the form which is why they appear in his intray. Try the admin person at the surgery - if they can't help or won't help - get onto the DWP and tell them the situation. I'm sure they will tell you what to do.

Hi BIS, thanks for the kind words. The receptionist wasn't much help either sadly. I am considering printing off the info from the gov website that shows the email address he can use and going into the surgery with the relevant info highlighted.
