Face to Face assessment - can we ask them to record? was created by NewClaim1
My daughter finally has a face to face assessment next week. I was prepared that we should try and record it on our phones if it had been a telephone assessment and get them to record but can we ask for a face to face assessment to be recorded by them? Is this likely to delay things as we've already waited since submitting the form in May? Also are we able to record a face to face assessment on our phones without asking?

Hi NewClaim1
You can ask for the face to face to be recorded but you will need to contact them before the assessment and ask.
Don't be surprised if your appointment is cancelled for another time.

Please, delay or no delay [we actually gave 2 weeks notice in 2017 but still got sent away on the day as we would not accept an unrecorded assessment!] never have an unrecorded assessment.
It simply is not worth the risk of being unable to prove mistreatment or outright lies.
And be sure to have read all of the 'dirty tricks' thread in the news section of B&W website!
Actually May to August is quick I think anyway. Better the correct result without the delay and stress of MR/Appeal with a recording than the reverse.
Best wishes,
Denby

Thank you. I'll give them a call. If they can't record it can I tell them I will? Am I correct in thinking this can just be done on my phone now? I did have a look at the dirty tricks thread and it worries me that they can be so difficult! My daughter will probably be in her wheelchair to get to the building. She could probably make it upstairs without but it depends how she is on the day and it probably wouldnt be a good idea when she then has to be quizzed for over an hour. Again she could make it out in an emergency but would be left feeling extremely tired and dizzy. She suffers from PoTS and has symptoms of Chronic Fatigue. She is due to start Sixth form soon and I worry they'll use this to make out she can do more than she can.

I've just called to ask about having the assessment audio recorded and been informed that this can only be done on telephone assessments at the moment and not face to face. They did say if we attend we can ask to record it on our phone but we would have to burn it to cd and provide them with a copy. I'm not even sure my laptop with cd still works so not sure this is an option but could ask my husband later.
I then asked if we could change it to a telephone assessment, she said that we can but there aren't currently any available with anyone who can do audio recording so if we want to do this she would have to cancel the current appointment and wait for a telephone assessment to become available with audio recording. What should I do? I worry that they won't get the full picture speaking to us on the phone but I also worry that they'll make false observations if we have a face to face and don't even know if I could manage to record it and provide a cd.

Hi NewClaim1
You may want to ask denby for her opinion.
Quite often we here when members ask for the appointment to be recorded they are quite often given the hard sell not to have a recording, will have to wait longer.
At the end of the day it will be your decision but quite often claimants will wait to have their assessment recorded in the hope that their PA4 is accurate, unfortunately this is not always the case as we do hear horror stories of PA4's even when the assessment has been recorded.
