PIP back pay was created by Lsd1970
Hi

I’m wondering if anyone could help me as I’m confused - I will try to explain my situation as clear and concise as I can.
I have received DLA lower rate care for 8 years. My physical health deteriorated significantly so I sought the advice of the CAB who told me to claim PIP - they completed the form on my behalf. I received a letter in August stating I had been awarded 12 points for each element which is wonderful - first PIP payment will be 3rd October. I am confused because I have continued to receive DLA?
Many websites say that PIP is paid from the date you initially made the claim but it doesn’t clearly explain ( or I’m stupid ) what happens in my situation. Should I receive back pay or because I’ve continued to get DLA they won’t back pay from 21st March - the date I started PIP claim.
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

Many thanks!

Congratulations on the award.

The rules for DLA claimants moving to PIP are slightly different.

You will continue to receive DLA for four weeks following the PIP Decision and then you will start to be paid your new PIP award.

I'm afraid there is no backdating of the PIP in these circumstances.
