Permitted work in ESA support group was created by MrsMoo2001
I have Long COVID and am very grateful to have been placed in the ESA support group.

I may be offered the opportunity (by my previous employer) to do an hour or two of self employed work, from home on an irregular basis and only as and when I feel up to it.

This would likely be consultancy type work, eg reviewing a document and providing feedback by adding comments throughout the document, ie not requiring me to provide a written report, and with a long lead time (eg a few weeks).

My Long COVID causes severe fatigue and brain fog, and the nature of the condition is that I have bad days and slightly better days. I would therefore only do this type of activity on the better days and would have to very carefully pace and take regular rest breaks.

Is this type of work permitted in the support group, and if so, is it likely to impact my claim going forward?

Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

Hi MrsMoo2001

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum

Important what you must do if you want to work;

Before you start any work, whether paid or unpaid, you should fill in a PW1 form. Post it to the address at the top of any ESA letters DWP have sent you. www.gov.uk/government/publications/emplo...itted-work-factsheet
