Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi randal_bond
If the DWP do not receive a form back from a claimant, they usually send a reminder, and then if it is not received, they cancel the claim. It is up to a claimant to get the form back, and if a claimant chooses not to have any tracking on returned post - it is impossible to prove that it has been lost. When claimants can prove documents were posted, the DWP is more sympathetic.

In addition to everything mentioned here, I've even added taking a photograph of my paid for application return envelope at the PostOffice counter. Overkill do you think!!!!

Hi SUECC
I have never done that, but I think it's a great idea if people can do it. Anything that can be used to convince the DWP that it has been sent is a good thing.

I always send Government paperwork 'Special Delivery'. The reason is: There is always someone who is paid to wait outside to sign such papers. Only 'Special Delivery' letters are dealt with this way. 'Recorded' and 'Deemed postage' no longer require a signature. I was told this from Royal Mail themselves.
Then, call the relevant office to say the date it was sent and they will clarify. Copy all documents too! This takes ages, but worth it!

my original pip review form never got to me, i then got a letter from DWP to say that I had not returned it and I explained I had never received it - they stopped my PIP..after arguing got another form sent out but PIP was not reinstated until form received and today seen partners carers allowance not been reinstated even though 3 people from DWP said it would be (since had PIP renewed) always send recorded delivery
