PiP review and effect on ESA? was created by Rob1
Hi,
I am currently receiving ESA Support Group and PIP Daily Living-Standard rate.
My conditions have got progressively worse over the last 12 months, my mental health conditions and recently diagnosed conditions Spinal Stenosis and Exertion Angina which greatly affect my ability to walk any distance and other things.
If I were to ask the DWP for a review due to my health conditions, would this trigger a move to Universal Credit and would I have to inform ESA of the review and any possible change in my PIP rate.
Kindest Regards,
Rob.

I assume you are only considering reporting a Change in regard to your PIP award.
You do not need to report the review to the DWP(ESA) but if there was a change in your PIP award you are under an obligation to inform them although I would expect the DWP(PIP) to inform the DWP(ESA).
Make sure you can see where you would score the extra points for a higher award of PIP, worsening conditions do not always score higher.

Hi Gordon,
Thank you for your swift response, if I was to request a review and if there was to be a change in my PIP award, would this be regarded as a Change of Circumstance and "trigger" a move to Universal Credit from ESA. Among others this is one of my main concerns.

Hi Rob1
Requesting a change of circumstances for PIP will not "trigger" a move to Universal Credit from ESA.

Hi Rob, not sure if this helps but on the 17th October I underwent a work capability assessment and was placed in the support group. However my PIP is due for review and sent the forms back on the 20th ~September, last week I contacted DWP via Relay UK (I am Deaf) to ask if my review had been decided. During the call I mentioned the WCA and support group, the person at DWP was really pleased I told her as their new policy is to look at any other benefit assessments to help make their decision. She said it was a new thing but they do look at other assessor reports.

Hi DarrenL
Thank you for your post,
useful information, we did have a question on the forum recently about whether or not assessor or decision makers could see other benefit assessments.
