Would I be entitled to New style ESA even though I've only paid a very low amount of national insurance class 2 over the last two years? The profits from from my business are very low so I've only paid around £300 over two years in voluntary contributions class 2.
Hi vicki_s, I can't tell you the answer, but I suggest that you phone HMRC on 0300 200 3500 (or 0300 200 3519 if you have a speech or hearing impairment). You can also visit the Gov.uk website to check your National Insurance contributions record online. If you are now too ill work, and/or carry on your business, you may be eligible to claim UC, if you have no other income ir very little savings. I think it would be a good idea to speak to a benefits adviser to understand what benefits you could claim No doubt they will also help with the NI calculations. I hope this helps. LL26
