PIP mandatory reconsideration

PIP mandatory reconsideration was created by AlwaysPacing
I had a telephone consultation and requested the resulting report. I feel it is unfair as they note I said I need help with certain things, but then in recommending number of points they say I can do it unaided.

I have since received the decision letter in which they award a few points but not enough to receive any PIP - so a big downgrade.

I wish to submit a mandatory reconsideration. I have read the guide on the website ( 33 page guide to PIP mandatory reconsideration and appeal submissions and sample submissions for health conditions).

Please can you confirm: at this stage, should I write about why I feel I should receive certain points for specific descriptors? Or do i just use the sample letter which says I want it reconsidered?

Thanks.

Hi AlwaysPacing

I would call the DWP and tell them that you are going to put in for a mandatory reconsideration. Then it gets logged onto the system. Then you should send in your letter and go through every point where you think they were incorrect in their decision and show where you already had the evidence or add any additional evidence. Every question you are challenging, you can say what you think you should have been awarded.

As tempting as it is in these situations to say an assessor has lied, or they are stupid or unprofessional - stick to words such as 'mistaken', 'misunderstood', 'incorrect'... Fight on the areas where you want to be awarded more points - don't worry about things such as spelling mistakes in the report.
