Video appointment for PIP review was created by Milish
Hi all,

I returned my pip review form by 01/05/2022 and yesterday I received the text message to say I am having a video assessment on Tuesday 23/05/2023 at 9am.

I will be state pension age in January 2024. I have now got myself into a complete panic worrying about the assessment especially when it is a video appointment! I will continue to read all the forums and the information on the site to try and prepare myself.

I will update this post after the assessment.

Kind regards

Hi Milish

Do not worry about the video assessment, if you cannot connect on the day for the video, they will probably revert to a telephone assessment as backup, it happened to my brother-in-law a few months ago.

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are a number of pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don’t let the assessor rush you and get you flustered.
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words Gary. I was wondering if I have my appointment on 23rd May my next PIP payment would be due to be paid on 6th June could they decide to stop my payment completely with me not receiving any payment on 6th June?

If I needed to do an MR is my payments stop during this period?
My mind is working overtime now worrying about all the outcomes.
Many thanks.

Hi Milish

We can't honestly say when your payments would stop if your award was downgraded because although your form should be returned to the DWP 48 hours later - we don't know how quickly it would be processed.

If your award was discontinued, you do not receive money during the MR process, but it would be backdated if your MR was successful.

I would try not to keep thinking about the what ifs, but try and prepare yourself for your assessment.

Wishing you the best of luck

Well today I had my first ever video pip review appointment. My appointment was for 9am. After a very stressful and very fitful sleep I logged in early to make sure I had no problems.

At 9:08am the agent was not online. I had started to phone the customer service phone number on my letter in case I had made some mistake.

Then the agent appeared online.. My assessment lasted from 9:10am until 10:40am. I was extremely nervous but answered everything as best I could. The agent was very nice and was doing a lot of writing. Now the waiting game starts.
I will update my post when I have an outcome. Thank you to all who continue to support everyone . I have learned so much from this site. The support is wonderful. After 48 hours I will be phoning to get the report sent to me. Then the heartache will start if I need to do an MR.

For today I am happy it is over and will probably be stressed until I get the decision letter.

Hi Milish

Thank you for the update. Congratulations on getting through the video assessment. As you say - now the waiting begins. I hope, now that's over you manage to get some sleep.
