SDP and Housing Benefit was created by robin.ord14@btinternet.com
I am on IBESA with SDP but am now renting a flat and haven’t wanted to apply for HB in case this affects the SDP as claiming HB would trigger a requirement to claim UC instead of IBESA. The question is :
If I move from IBESA with SDP to UC and claim Housing Benefit would I still get the SDP or the equivalent as in transitional SDP with UC, or is the SDP added to the Housing Benefit, or does the SDP just disappear due to claiming Housing Benefit.

You will receive a Transitional payment for the SDP.

Make sure you do not close your ESA claim prior to applying for UC or you will lose the extra payment. Let the DWP sort it out once you have made your UC claim.
