Hello,
I've had low rate DLA for many years but my health has deteriorated a lot in the last few months so I put a claim in for PIP in February. This was a new claim - not a transfer from DLA - and I was a bit nervous about doing it as I didn't want to risk losing the DLA until they asked me to undergo the transfer process. However I was awarded enhanced on both elements, which is obviously good news, but the award is from the 20th June. I applied on 13 Feb and had an assessment in April. Could anyone tell me if this is correct or should I be querying it. The award letter says that my DLA will stop from 20 June. I thought that PIP awards were from the date of application?

Although you called this a new claim for PIP it was not and counted as a transfer as you left your DLA in payment.

The rules for transfers are that the PIP does not become payable until four weeks after the Decision is made.

If you had closed your DLA claim before making the PIP one then it would have been backdated to when you claimed PIP.
