ESA support Group migration to UC was created by Briank
My wife who was claiming ESA support group has been asked to attend a 'first commitments' interview next week following the UC migration, our claim should transition protected - is this face to face interview mandatory or has a mistake been made ?, my wife claims pip high rate with mobility and is under light review for 10 years due to her disabilities.
A face to face would be very difficult and stressful due to her disabilities and mental health issues.
please help

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Briank,
Members of this forum have had their face to face interviews replaced recently. You need to be firm with the Jobcentre Work Coach and state that it is not possible to attend owing to infirmity. The Work Coach may reply that you have to attend for ID verification and your claim will be closed otherwise. In reply you can say, as a member has just done that you request a Telephone Biographical Check. If that is refused you could say you are going to complain in writing to the Jobcentre District Manager.

Our ID was checked online and was fine, this is a first commitments meeting and does not mention ID checking ?

Hi Briank,
In that case have you tried sending a message to the Work Coach giving details of the health condition and why that would preclude attendance ?

thanks for your replies,
we have just received a phone call from a job coach, it was a short phone call but I am worried that we have been asked to provide a fit note (just in case we don't get the limited capability part) even though as I stated we received ESA support group.
The job coach also said we had to accept the commitments he had put online as he cant normally proceed without a fit note.
do you recommend sending a fit note and completing the commitments - having read the forum this seems wrong to me

Hi Briank,
If the Work Coach refuses to back down about you having to show him a Fit Note. I would send him a message that you will complain to the local District Manager of that Jobcentre.
I can give you details of how to do this if I know the County where the Jobcentre is located.
