Carers element for my disabled daughter when I’m disabled myself ?

I am Severely Disabled myself and I care for my daughter who is also Disabled. I received the Carers Element up until I transferred over to Universal Credit where they stopped it altogether.
I understand I now have an underlying benefit for Caring for my daughter but it only can be used when I start to receive my Pension.
I do not think this is Fair when I received it before on old style ESA. I asked then “why did l receive this previously” to be told they don’t know.
Why is this fair when I’m looking after my disabled daughter with No money to help me do so ? Thanks.

Hi lulu,

I need some clarification. Were you receiving Carer's Allowance? Are we talking about the State Pension? Do you wish to apply for the Carer's Element of Universal Credit?

There are two elements of universal credit for disabled people
The "lcwra" element ( higher tier)
And the "lcw" element ( standard tier)
If you receive the lcwra element you cannot receive the carers element as well because you would end up with less uc.
If you receive the lcw element. You can receive the carers element as well because you would end up with more universal credit
Your decision letter for your wca will tell you which you get( lcwra is also known as support group lcw is also known as wrag group)
The carers element comes with a payment of roughly £200 a month
The lcwra element comes with a payment of roughly £400 a month
There is no payment. For the lcw element.
If your in a couple only one of you can receive the lcwra element and one the carer element.
If you review lcw you should inform the DWP that you should also be receiving the carers element
When you reach state pension (and your partner if you have one) you can claim pension credit, you can receive an extra payment for being a carer and an extra payment for disability
if your recieving the care component of pip/DLA/AA at the same time on pension credit.
