Advice urgently needed please was created by Caz
Hello everyone,
I have a couple of quick questions that I would very grateful if the forum members could please answer.
A very quick background to my situation my UC claim was in payment for over 12 months and then after making various complaints they decided to unlawfully close my claim.
I have been left without UC income for about 8 months and successful in the Tribunal in overturning the DWPS decision to close my claim.
My UC claim has been reopened after my successful appeal with my previous details on.
The Jobcentre now want me to re-verify my identity in person or over the telephone due to it being over 6 months since I have received UC income.
They are also threatening claim closure if my id is not reconfirmed, can they close my claim again?
Can identity be confirmed via email or post?
As doing this in person or over the telephone is impossible and not suitable due to my disabilities.
The DWP have already confirmed my ID in person before I became very unwell and this seems another unreasonable request of theirs and is it reasonable for them to put me through this again?
Kind regards

Hi Caz,
There is a lot of automation in the UC system which is fine for standard claims but things tend to go awry where there are special circumstances such as Tribunal hearings. I expect a Case Manager or Work Coach has received an IT generated To Do that you need to verify your ID.
You could send a Journal message stating that your claim has been re-opened as you have won a Tribunal case. If they still state that you need to provide ID you can insist on a Home Visit from a DWP officer who will gather the information.
If there are still problems I can assist you in complaining to your DWP District Manager, which usually works.
