Hi BIS,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I put in the request.

This is the latest message from the DWP -
"This is not an option until we
have exhausted the ID
verification using actual
documentation. The process
you are referring to is 3rd party
verification and it not
something a customer can
request. This is a back-up for
customers who have no formal
ID as those listed in the
appointment details. In those
cases we require 3 official
bodies for whom we send
verification requests to and this
can be a time consuming
process for the customer in so
far as this delays actual
verification and therefore has
an impact on accessing
advances.
Kind regards
Amanda

Could you please advise me on what to do now?

Thank you, much appreciated.

Hi mixman09

You should send a Journal message back quoting the following ( Biographical Check ) under 4.3 and saying you don't need to request anything as it is part of the UC ALP.

4.3 Action:
Verify ID ALP

- access a copy of the 'Acceptable 3rd Party Biographical Checks' form
- ask the claimant to choose up to 3 appropriate 3rd Parties
- record the details below
- ask the claimant to provide 5 statements (a minimum of 3) about themselves that the
3rd Party can corroborate
- record the statements below

Hello,

Here's the latest message from the DWP

"Hello Stephen,

Thank you for advising me regarding the process of identity verification, however the process above is outdated and ALPs are no longer used in these cases. The 3rd party verification is only used if a customer does not have at minimum of 2 pieces of documentation to verify their identity.

Once Liam attends the ID appointment on Friday the interviewing officer will take action as necessary to verify his identity in line with standard practice. If We are unable to verify Liam's identity because he does not possess the required documentation we will then look to third party verification, at which point we will obtain a minimum of 3 statements from Liam to put to each 3rd party organisation. These statements may differ depending on his involvement with them. Liam will need to sign consent forms for each one and these will be sent, along with the statements to the named persons. Once returned we can assess their responses and action the ID verification To-Do accordingly.

I hope I have managed to explain the process clearly and this helps your understanding.

Kind regards
Amanda

Is this accurate? Any more advice?

Thank you, much appreciated.

Hi mixman09

It would be accurate if they offered you a Home Visit by the DWP Visiting Team.
Have you requested a Visit? If not you can request one via the Journal. I would be interested to see how Amanda tries to knock that one back .......as it's official government policy.
