Hi Owen
Income based ESA has stopped now permanently. Are you sure you are getting an ESA payment still? It may tell you in your UC monthly statement.

David,
managed to get through my skip losd of stuff with lots of help. found letter from Jobcentre plus 29 th jan . 2026 which sauys:
" you are not getting any more INCOME RELATED employment and support allowance we cannot pay you because you have a clainm to universal credit "
Then later onm it says:
" income and benefits :
- universal credit for you is not counted as income towards esa.
-no income will be taken off your esa.
-your income related amount is £50.35 less £0.00 so you would habve been entitiled to £50.35
-however because you are entitiled to CONTRIBUTION BASED esa we will pay you £145.90
-these amounts apply from 8 april 2026 to 1 dec 2026 "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They say i am entitled to "contribution based esa" so does this mean that although the UC will be stopped but they will still alow me the "contribution based esa" ? Owen
Hi Owen
Yes, this is good news. So regardless how much money you inherit you will carry on getting your Contributions Based ESA which is now called New Style ESA.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello David, that';s a refeif i thought i'd be cut off completely, I'll let you know hawt happens. The Inheritance will take ages i hope. I'm going to see how long i can drag it out before i have to accept it. Usyually people can t wait ot get therir hands on a windfall but it's causing me a bit of bother. If my uncle Alan knew what was happening he'd go mad, all my other relatives can do what they want with their award but if i go spending big amounts the dwp will want to know. they're effectively telling me what i can or cannot spend my money on. Thanks for pointing me to the good news about the contributions based esa thats' a sigh of releif, sort of , thanks again, regards, Owen
