Hi,
I'm appointee for my 16 year old autistic dtr. Have just had a text informing me of face to face assessment date ( I had the impression it would be a telephone appointment but guess I was mistaken there)
As appointee I assume I can attend without her - this is the whole point of me becoming appointee, it would be too much for her to attend, even if only I speak. Is my assumption correct, and is there relevant govt guidance in case serco say she must attend?
I'm getting paranoid after a spot of googling!

It is possible for the Appointee to be interviewed in the place of the disabled claimant. Have a look at the official guidance below:
"1.15.20 Where appointees report that a claimant is unable to attend and participate in a consultation the AP should ascertain:
whether this is temporary, and whether the consultation could be rearranged; or
whether an alternative assessment channel would enable claimant attendance and participation.
1.15.21 Where a claimant’s reasons for being unable to attend and participate are not temporary, a consultation may go ahead with the appointee only as long as all of the following conditions are satisfied:
Issue relates to the claimant’s health condition(s) or impairment
It is medically reasonable
It is not due to choice or convenience"
