For adjudication officers which were the predecessors of decision makers, you had to have at least one year's working knowledge of the benefit which was being administered before you could be granted the status of an AO.

Insofar as decision makers are concerned, I am unaware of the 'qualifications' required nowadays as it can depend on which part of the DWP in which the DM is employed, but when I last worked for the DSS (now the DWP), there were discussions to see if the procedure could be fast-tracked? Whether it actually happened, I do not know?

If you are talking about academic qualifications, these are not normally required as all officers can undergo an internal aptitude test to assess their knowledge of both maths and English.

It's marked it as a Favourite. Not sure whether you did this or someone else, as I can see the star as well.

It would appear that if anyone marks a thread as a Favourite then everybody will see it as one.

It's grey if someone else marked it and gold if you did.

And I didn't know any of that until a couple of minutes ago, so congratulations on posting todays "let's stump the Moderator" question
