Hi,

The announcement today by Maria Miller in effect changes nothing. All the statement relates to is the fact that High Rate Mobility Component of DLA will continue to be given to those who are eligible and reside in funded care homes.

When Personal Independence Payments (PIP) comes into force, all working aged current DLA claimants will be reassessed under the new PIP regulations. Whether or not any individual reaches the threshold for an award of PIP is impossible to say.

Pete

The Government has reversed it's decision to stop paying DLA HRM to those resident in care homes and to date the same applies to all recipients of DLA HRM, although all claims for DLA both mobility and care, including indefinite awards can be looked at again under the DWP's Right Payment Programme

Also, DLA will be changing to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in the next few years. From 2013 to 2015/16, all DLA claimants of working (16 to 64 years of age) will have their claim reassessed for PIP.

At present the Government have stated they have no plans to stop DLA for children ( under 16 years of age) or for those who are over 65 years old.

Where or not this will change is anyone's guess, as Government change their decisions
as often as I change ny socks !! (daily)
