ESA contributions question?

At present i am on ESA contributions based, i heard somewhere (can't remember where?) that if you get DLA middle rate for care, the contributions base ESA become income based? Is his true?? Or a great big fib? xx

I have certainly never heard/seen anything like this. I suspect that your informant was misinformed.

Sorry to sound dumb but can i clarify that, as i am on contributions based ESA it will stay as contributions based no matter how long i'm receiving the benefit? x

The recently enacted Welfare Reform Bill means that (C)ESA will be time limited to one year for those not in the support group. After this time ESA will become income based if the claimants finances are low enough, otherwise no further payments will be made.


12 Month Limit for Contributary ESA

Does that mean my ESA(cb) will be stopped almost as soon as i finally get my award? I first began claiming on 10th march 2011 and only won my appeal on the 14th feb 2012 (to be back dated until 9th may 2011), as yet i still don't even know what group i've been put in? I keep ringing them but are getting nowhere, i just keep being told it hasn't been sorted out yet?!
