If your wife works more than 24h/w then you will not be eligible for ESA(IR) at the end of your 365 days.My wife works full time 35 hours plus, so what would happen when time runs out with ESA (WRAG)but don't feel fit enough to join JSA, would it be up to my wife to support me? If is was up to my wife to support me, what would happend if I decided to give JSA a go, would I be able to request only part-time work? Also, what happens if I start to claim JSA and the 12 months runs out before I find a job, is there another benefit to claim?
We don;t advise on JSA, so I can't give you a definitive answer, but issues you may face in claiming JSA would be that I would not expect you to be eligible for Contribution JSA and there are similar rules for Income Related JSA to ESA(IR) which may mean that you are not eligible for that either.

The other side of the coin is that if one has always paid their NI believing this will help if they ever need to get ESA/IB/DLA etc and ultimately their pension and continue to get it paid once on the old IB for it to be stopped after a year is really wrong.
Also your benefits were for you and you alone regardless of your partner. Now with the new welfare it is about the money from others coming into the house, all very wrong. In my case I married recently and never believed the govt would be so radical. If I had stayed single and my hubby lived at his mums, allegedly, then money would be forthcoming. This again is wrong and allows many to cheat.
All shows about the witch hunt the govt has to the sick and disabled.
