This does seem to be a change in operating procedure, whether it is local to the person you spoke to, that office, of ATOS in general, I can't say.I received a letter asking me to attend a medical last week and on the same day i sent a letter to atos asking for it to be recorded, i phoned the up today to see if my request had been confirmed and i was told that they can only confirm it on the day.

Unfortunately, you have limited options on this matter, whilst you have the right to request your assessment is recorded, you do not have the right to insist that it is recorded.
You can try phoning ATOS again, playing "dumb", and checking whether they will be sending you details of a new appointment which will be recorded.
Unfortunately, if you are unable to get any further confirmation, you will need to attend and make a decision on the day as to whether you will proceed if there is no recording facility.
As the original appointment has not been changed, you should still have the opportunity to change the appointment once, however, after this your file will be returned to the DWP if you cannot show Good Cause for not attending.
Asking for your assessment to be recorded does not constitute Good Cause.

Yes, you are entitled to 7 days notice, but can waive this if you wish.I think i will wait until the day and ring them back to ask if it will be recorded. It does say on the leaflet that you are entitled to rebook it once, do you have a time period to do this or can it be done on the day? If they can't record it on the day i will ask for it to be rebooked ( not because of the recording, just use my right to have it re booked once) Then i will send another letter asking for it to be recorded and see if they recorded it the next time if they don't i guess ill just have to attend.

Is that 7 working days notice or just 7 days?
Hi SM,
As ATOS are currently carrying out face to face assessments at the weekends, I would assume that it is purely "7 Days".
