PIP Journey seems to be lasting forever was created by Janet Crowther
Hello all I'm new here. I am posting for everyone to see my journey.
I have PBC, Primary Biliary Cirrosis, it greatly affects my ability to lead a normal life.
I put in a claim for PIP on the 16th May 2013.
I attended a medical assessment on 24th July 2013 (ATOS)
I have just recieved a letter from Atos telling me they will be coming to my home to carry out another medical assessment on 15th January 2014, I don't know what to expect, can anyone help?

Hi,
Welcome to Benefits and Work
If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.
This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
We have had very little feedback from members regarding the format of an ATOS PIP Home Assessment.
ATOS are very reluctant to carry out Home Assessments, whereas Capita seem far more willing to do so.
Was the assessment on 24/07/13 for PIP or ESA, as I am wondering why there would be a need for a second PIP assessment in such a short period ?
We are actually asking members to provide feedback on their PIP face to face assessment experiences.
Information thus far on the various forums across the net indicates that the assessments are carried out in a similar fashion to ESA F2F assessments, even though the qualifying criteria is obviously different.

The assessment on 24th July was for PIP. I am really not sure why I need to have another one. When I spoke to DWP they said they received the report from Atos at the beginning of October but needed to return it for some reason, and then last week I got the letter from Atos telling me about the "at home" medical assessment.

Hi J,
In case you have not already done so, you might want to have a look through our in-site information on PIP :
PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)
PIP information, including PIP Self Test
PIP Topic Thread in Spotlight Area
As you may have gathered, many, many claimants, including our members, have been suffering long delays in gaining a decision on their PIP claims.
We have currently had no more than a handful who have actually received a decision, and many have not yet had a face to face assessment.

Hi J,
We are aware that many of the PIP Assessment Medical Reports have been audited for accuracy and quality.
Maybe the first report did not pass the audit, hence the second assessment.

Hi J,
Just to add, you are entitled to request a copy of the medical report generated as a result of the assessment on 15/01/14.
You would also be entitled to a copy of the medical report generated on 24/07/13.
Both the above would be requested from The DWP using a SAR, if/when you need to.
Please do keep us updated, and feel free to pose any queries that you may have by re-posting to this topic.
We will do our best to help within the remit of the forum
You might want to Bookmark/Favourite this page in your internet browser, you can then return to it easily, if necessary.
