I hope the Mods will forgive me if this post is wildly inappropriate.
I’m trying to encourage as many people as possible to take part in Mass Observation Day 2014. It’s on Wednesday 12th May and involves writing and submitting a one-day diary. The finer details are here:
www.massobs.org.uk/12may.html It's hard to plan for next Wednesday but I shall probably include material to do with my medical condition- perhaps researchers will have found a cure within the next fifty years. I also intend to note down the extreme anxiety I feel as a result of the Coalition’s “reform” of disability benefits as well as the media and social attitudes I did not notice before 2010.
Our dreaded brown envelopes, form filling, assessments, tribunals are all relevant. Our feelings towards the government of the day and our fears, uncertainties, financial difficulties could all be set down. Let’s give social historians of the future an opportunity to get the story right. Don’t let this battle be won on the playing fields of Eton.
Thanks for reading,
