PIP update was created by Rubyred
PIP update – assessment form was posted back to them 21st March, my assessment was yesterday 14th May, so 54 days later.
The assessment centre was only 6 miles from my home at a time convenient to me as I changed it from the original date of 15th April @ 9am and 35 miles away.
Anyway, the walk from the reception area that I waited in was such a long walk I couldn’t believe it was real, I was in such pain when I got to the room.
The assessor was a nice enough person although she didn’t speak very clearly and I found her difficult to hear or understand, I had to keep asking her to repeat herself.
She went through the functional abilities in rather a haphazard way, from getting out of bed, to the bathroom then preparing food for lunch.
She asked if I went on holiday, I said not any more, she didn’t elaborate.
She asked if I did any cooking, I said I didn’t as my husband did it all – I work, he cooks – thats how it is, she didn’t ask if I could.
She didn’t ask about any practical tasks like housework, laundry etc
She asked if I went shopping, I said I didn’t cos I hate shopping and always have, so she didn’t ask who did it.
She didn’t ask about hobbies or social life.
She didn’t ask how far I could walk although I was there for an hour and a half.
Not sure why we always think theres going to be a trick question, but there wasn’t and it was OK.
Lets hope the process moves as quick as it has so far.

Typical PIP assessment ( or more accurately non assessment) as lots of questions you should have been asked were not asked. Was it Atos or Capita who carried out your 'assessment" ?

We're trying to collect statistics on whether Atos or Capita are doing a better job, bearing in mind that Atos pulled out early of their contract for Employment Support Allowance (ESA) prematurely yet for reasons unknown were allowed to carry on doing DLA & PIP assessments ???

It was Atos! Seems they dont much care any more.
I dont think it should make much difference to the end result whatever it is, the questions I wasnt asked werent necessary for the descriptors.

I was also lucky enough to have a Capita assessor with me at the assessment, so she knew what I should have been asked but of course said nothing!!

It's usually the other way around so you might want to chase them next week for the Decision Letter if it has not arrived in the interim.
