Is it usual for DWP to call ref ESA medical was created by Pogo-Stix

Is it usual for DWP to call ref ESA medical as I today had a call from them telling me the decision maker wanted to go through my atos medical form tomorrow between 13:00 - 17:00.

This is not common but nor is it unheard of. It sounds as if the DM wants clarification of something before a decision is made on your claim.

I would recommend that you make some notes about which ESA Descriptors you meet and why with references to the evidence that you submitted.

An update - Got the call today and the questions asked is how far could I walk, was my walking stick an aid for balance or walking, anyway the lady said she would call me back within 30 mins which she did and sad my benefit would remain unchanged.
